Portsmouth Fringe Festival 2025

The first ever Portsmouth Fringe Festival will be taking place from the 25th of July to the 3rd of August, and it promises an exciting program of events covering all artistic disciplines.

Thespians, poets, singers, dancers, and artists will certainly want to get involved in the many theatre productions, dance and comedy shows, readings, exhibitions and more that will be going on at various venues across the island. There are even food based events. Anyone can apply to take part as a performer, so if this sounds like something you want to be part of get in touch with the organisers.

For everyone else, the 10 day festival is already packed with entertainment, utilising a diverse range of venues like the Wedgewood Rooms, The Greenhouse, Pitt Street Skate Park, and The Hideaway, Southsea, and all the local libraries. Some shows are free, some are pay what you can, and some are ticketed as normal, but all are going to be fantastic.

Expect things as weird and wonderful as Drum and Bass on a bike, whacky sketch comedy, archaeodrama, pottery making drop in sessions, a gladiator arena (no-lethal, thankfully), themed music nights, and all sorts more. It’s a real eclectic mix that has something for everyone,

Free Family Fringe Days

Free family fringe Portsmouth

While most of the shows and events will be ticketed, there are two dedicated Free Family Fringe Days taking place between 10m and 4pm on Saturday the 26th of July & Sunday the 3rd of August.

These will be totally free to attend, so if cash is tight there is no pressure to pay anything at all, the main thing is that you turn up and enjoy it.

Both days will be taking place at Victoria Park, and they are all about creativity, community, and celebration, making the arts accessible and enjoyable for everyone. You can enjoy performances from storytellers and street performers, as well as listen to local musicians and experience work from local artists. Plus, there will be musical theatre, workshops, arts and crafts, outdoor theatre, and space to bring a picnic and relax.

Both days are jam packed with family friendly fun and games, and you would be made to miss it, because did I mention it’s FREE?
