A short drive out of town is the village of Wickham, and every year at the start of August, it plays host to the Wickham Festival. It’s a long running independent festival that is fantastic for families, touted as one of the safest festivals in the country.
Don’t mistake safety for mediocrity, though – Wickham Festival is great fun, full of brilliant music and other entertainment to make your Summer really sing.
The 2025 line up includes:
- Richard Thompson
- Leo Sayer
- Kate Rusby
- Fisherman’s Friends
- Newton Faulkner
- Lindisfarne
- Lucy Spraggan
- Alabama 3
- The Bootleg Beatles
There are lots of other acts on the line-up too, plus more yet to be announced.
Being a family friendly festival, there will also be lots of entertainment aimed at children, such as storytelling events, some street theatre, a Bug Beats Silent Disco, dancing performances and classes, a crafts fayre, instruments to play, and more. For the big kids, late night comedy, a real ale and cider festival, yoga, and loads of other extras are included.
The village of Wickham itself is great too, and there are lots of little walks and places to explore if you fancy a quick break from the festival madness!
