Back for another year is Portsmouth Armed Forces Day 2026, taking place on the 20th of June and as usual, the location will be Southsea Common.
It’s an opportunity to turn out and support our wonderful Armed Forces, and have a great day out at the same time.
The event is organised by Portsmouth City Council, it’s free to attend, and you don’t even need to book. You can just walk up at any point in the day and see what is going on. The event runs from 10am until 4pm.
That said, it’s best to show up early because you don’t want to miss any of the brilliant displays, activities, or workshops that will be going on. The specific order of the day is different each year, but there is always lots to see and do.
It’s not all parading and marching either, although you can expect plenty of that sort of thing, from veterans to reservists and those currently serving. Last year there was music, planes flying by, fairground style attractions, and even a live parachute jump!
There are stalls to browse and games to take part in too, and of course plenty of places to get something to eat or drink – the day has a real gala feel to it.
So it’s a fun filled day and an opportunity to show the armed forces community that they are appreciated. Plus, lots of money will be raised for good causes such as the British Legion and Help for Heroes. A proper feel good event where everyone comes away smiling.
Don’t miss it – that’s an order!
