If you love music from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s, you will probably already know about That’ll Be The Day. If you don’t, where have you been!? It’s basically several decades of brilliant music and comedy packed into one very lively night out.
The long running show comes to the Kings Theatre Portsmouth on Friday the 18th of September with a brand new production. Expect classic rock ‘n’ roll and pop songs performed by a talented cast of singers and musicians, broken up by comedy sketches and impersonations. It’s loads of fun, really varied and fast moving.
This isn’t one of those tribute shows that concentrates on a single artist. That’ll Be The Day jumps between different periods and styles, celebrating loads of the songs and performers that shaped popular music between the 1950s and the 1980s. The cast take on lots of different stars from bygone eras, and it’s impressive watching them play such different characters. There should be plenty that you recognise, as well as lots of opportunities to sing along.
The show has been touring for decades, which tells you something about how popular it is. The format is simple, but it works: great songs, live performances, a bit of silliness and plenty of nostalgia. It should be a really fun night, especially if you are going with friends or family members who grew up listening to the music.

Tickets start from £30, while groups of 10 or more can save £5 per person. The show has an age restriction of 12+, so it is worth bearing that in mind before booking.
